 It was during a long, scenic drive when Myrah, my ever-curious 10-year-old daughter, turned to her dad with a question that sparked an unforgettable conversation. 

Myrah: Dad, what would it be like if the Earth was flat instead of round?.Her eyes were wide with excitement.

Dad: That’s an interesting question, Myrah! Well, life would be completely different. For starters, gravity would act in a weird way. Instead of pulling us towards the center of the Earth, it would pull us toward the middle of the flat surface.

Myrah: So, we’d be walking sideways if we were near the edge?

Dad: Kind of! It would feel strange. The farther you are from the middle, the weaker gravity might get, and at the edge, you could even float away! Staying on the ground would be tricky.

Myrah: Whoa! That sounds fun but scary! What about the sky?

Dad: The sky and the atmosphere might not stay the same. Without the round Earth, we could lose our atmosphere because gravity wouldn't be strong enough to hold it. That means the air we breathe could disappear!

Myrah: That’s terrible! No air? What about day and night?

Dad: The day and night cycle would be messed up, too. On a flat Earth, some places might always be sunny, while others could be stuck in darkness. You might live in an area with no real sunrise or sunset—just a strange, constant light.

Myrah: Sounds spooky! What would happen to our weather?

Dad: Oh, the weather would go wild. Without the planet spinning, storms could last forever in some places, and other areas could face constant heat or cold. It would be hard to survive in such extreme climates.

Myrah: And what about the edge of the flat Earth?

Dad: That’s the big mystery! Some people think there could be a wall, others imagine an abyss. No one really knows, but living near the edge would be dangerous. Gravity might be weaker, and who knows what could happen if you got too close!
